Home Police and Courts: Probation

When a prisoner is released from prison following a successful Parole hearing, he or she thereafter goes on probation under the management and supervision of an offender manager. Probation is also sometimes given in sentence rather than a prison term. In the same manner as in parole, there are conditions attached to probation which if the offender breaches, may warrant a custodial sentence and add to the gravity of subsequent offences.
